I have heard that NYU is difficult socially for students who go all four years (just because it's huge, and the university IS kind of New York City, and there isn't really the whole campus spirit thing - that's just what I've heard). I still really want to go there, but I'm wondering how hard it is if you transfer, to settle in and feel at home. Any insight would be great.

Do you live in the city or NYC metro area? Then you shouldn't worry about...

No, I do not attend NYU. But if I do transfer, i would commute from home since it's close.

I don't even live in New York, actually...I've never lived in a big city. That's part of why I'm a little worried about how lost I might feel.

Just watch episodes of Sex and the City and you'll get the feel for NYC :p

hahahaha good one pellman XD

first of all, if you're coming in as a transfer, you're gonna have to try even harder to make friends. also, most people have already formed their groups and cliques, so you'll most likely have to join one. you can possibly create one with other transfer students, but what are the chances that all of you will like each other? haha.

anyways, as for nyc, you're basically on your own. it'll be difficult for you to adjust at first.. such as getting around via subways and bus, exploring the city, and if you don't know anybody, you'll absolutely hate it. nyu does not feel like home at all unless you really find your niche.

with that said, i love nyc. so many museums, restaurants, shops, shopping plazas, tourist attractions, and diversity. the only thing is that i wouldn't want to go to school there. i would spend WAY too much money and i would find it hard to study.. haha.
