Question for students from China

Though most students DIY their app, we still have a lot of stuff like this in China.

Many high school students who cannot go to university in China turn to the agents to help. They can go to a community college in US without taking the SAT and then transfer to a top univeristy. For international transfer students, Toefl is the only exam they need to take.

I think the reason for not issuing SAT in mainland China is very simple. Because many elite students are lost to universities overseas. And a SAT test centre in mainland will only encourage this and make it easier, which doesn’t make Chinese universities look good comparing to universities overseas.

Hey sorry this has nth. to do with what is being discussed here but…
Can I submit my toefl score report late?
I mean college application is due on jan 1 but my toefl score won’t come out until jan 6…

^It would depend on the college. You can usually find the relevant information on the school’s website:)

The demand is high but most of the agents(more than 99%) turn to be rip-offs.

I never asked any agent to help me, yet I still got acceptance from WUSTL and Michigan…

I really don’t like those who use agents for help, I believe it is not honest to do that

bbs.taisha.org try this…china’s college confidencial

it seems like CUUSERS are show on this website

As a college consultant working in China, I can tell you that there are, indeed, a lot of unscrupulous agents who will take Chinese students’ money and not offer much in return. Most of these people are no more than an internet connection: they really don’t know first hand how to advise students, and they don’t know anything about colleges other than what they read in US News & World Reports and in forums such as CC.

However, there are many very experienced educational consultants working in China who are not paid by colleges, who receive no commissions, and who exist solely to help Chinese students realize their dreams. If you feel that you want or need help, you might want to hunt for these sorts of consultants.

If the communists let SAT be held in mainland China…Will students study their propaganda seriously??

@NETKING

To be honest, a lot of students don’t study your so called “communists’ propaganda”. They don’t even care.

How do you access books to study for the SAT or ACT? Amazon or BN.com? Are AP courses like US History or European history taught in schools?
