what attracted you so much to WashU? You probably got into a lot of other great schools if you got into wash u, but what made you choose this university? like, one of my friends chose WUSTL over dartmouth.

I like WashU's climate. Its not an ivy league which means not too many preppy rich people go there. Its got a reputation as a balanced school, education and social life.

I was mainly attracted to their new biomedical engineering building. :P

I know it seems superficial, but if you've not been there, you MUST see it. "Take my breath away!"

Medical School is the second best and to get the chance to work there isa opportunity that I couldnt pass up. WHy not Johns Hopkins? HAVE YOU BEEN THERE? ITS in a veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyy bad neighborhood, Baltimore is run down compared to St. Louis. The campus itself looks nice, but its crampped and stuffy. Environment for 4 years of study is a important thing and WashU has wide open spaces of Gothic architecture specifically designed after Ivy League Layouts. They have multiple libraries that most people actually dont use so they are nice and quite. The main library is good though, just not when the pre meds have finals.

Its a good school, maybe not the best name, but those in the profession will know it and thats more important than your friends back home or your parent's friends back home going OMG THAT SCHOOL IS AWSOME BECAUSE I HEAR ITS NAME ALLLLLL THE TIME.

PoloniusMouth is right to say the place isnt overrun with arrogant preppy rich people. Alot of people come from tough backgrounds, but you make your friends. There is a good variety. If anything the thing thats most disturbing is the competition. Not like cutthroat, but honest competition. I call it "silent death" ahahah

good academics, but most importantly, the people--on the whole--are ridiculously friendly. it's disarming and thrilling.

The people, the campus, the facilities, hell, even the food at Wash U is great. I visited campus, met some of the coolest people I've known, and fell in love with Wash U. The combination of resources, excellence, environment, and fun made coming to Wash U an easy decision for me.

yep. :) no rich white preppy people. that is what made me wanna join. :) so are you thinking of going to WashU

You know, I wondered for a long time whether this "there's no preppy rich people" thing was really true or if it was just something that everyone (including me) said without really knowing for sure. Now I'm starting to think that whether or not it was true to begin with, it will be true just because of all of the people (who probably are not preppy rich people themselves) saying it.

But anyway, up until about March I didn't think I was going to Wash U whether I got in or not. It was really the only "top ranked" private school that I applied to, and I was perfectly happy with going to either Kansas State University or the University of Kansas. But then I got in (which I didn't think would happen) and then I got a pretty good financial aid package (which I also didn't think would happen) and after visiting and falling in love with the campus and people, I realized that it was time for me to get out of Kansas.

precisely. :) Glad for ya. :P but its true. When I visited some Ivy Leagues, there ARE lots of rich snobby people. However, there probably are some at WashU too. I just think it would be a lot less. I've spent about 1 full week on the WashU campus.
