1) Was there a different major that interested you more?
2) Why did you choose accounting over that major?
3) If you answered no to #1, why do you enjoy accounting?

Yes, philosophy.

Because I prefer employment.

I enjoy accounting because it has good job outlook and good pay. Also, I kind of like the though process involved in it. Like, the analyzing and logic involved.

Economics

Although interesting, I found economics more theoretical than I liked. Accounting is far more black and white (though not without its shades of grey). Additionally, as mentioned above, job prospects for accounting graduates are better.

I like accounting basically because it makes sense to me. Everything seemed to “click”, and with a strong background in math I didn’t find it too challenging either. I enjoyed learning about the inner workings of businesses, and felt what I was learning in class was going to help me in my professional life.

Industrial Engineering

Fear that my math skills are not up to par.

I didn’t know if you meant “in accounting” as in already in the profession, or if you meant in the process of getting the degree. I only qualify for the latter, but anyway…

1) Sports broadcasting, sports management
2) Too much competition for so few jobs, accounting is much less risky
3) I didn’t say “no” to number one, but I do enjoy accounting sometimes. I’m not gonna sit here and pretend I wouldn’t rather be a color commentator for the NY Yankees (dream job), but sometimes the figuring out the logic of a tough problem or exercise (of which there are many in accounting, gives you a certain satisfaction and maybe even some joy. I don’t see how any one can claim to be “passionate” about job costing and balances credits and debits, but I’m not finding it too dreadful.
