Question from current student

hey guys,

i'm a rising sophomore here. i don't think i ever got end of semester grades in the mail while i did get midterm grades. do they not send out semester grades?

Duke sends mid term grades in the mail for the benefit of parents and then only for the freshman class. Duke only sends hard copies of grades at the end of semester to parents if you are on academic probation. Otherwise, you are expected to check ACES on line for your end of year grades. The administration is trying to save money on paper and mailing costs.

thanks westcoastmon,

i see . . . thats really weird . . . midterm grades are sent for freshmen but not their final grades lol . . . seems to defeat the purpose.

You can however, request a grade mailer to be sent home after every semester on ACES. It's under Academic > Sending semester grades. There's a deadline (I forget when) and you are only allowed one per semester. I usually do it at the beginning of every semester.
