Question from IS

I have a question from IE, couldn't figue out the answer could be the right one:

Review of books and films have generally been exempt from the standard of libel that are applied to news stories, but they are now questioning the distinction between reporting and criticism.

the answer: the distinction between reporting and criticism is now being questioned.

The only difference, for me, is that the second one is PASSIVE.
Is that really better to use PASSIVE in this sentence?

At my very beginning, I should say thank you for visiting my site helping me to figure out my problem. I think maybe the question might be easy for you to recognize, but for me it’s another annoying grammar question I should face as I’m a foreign student and I’m preparing the SAT course in my country, it must be a little difficult to take the preparation. I wish that would make a little sense why I couldn’t understand such question given above.

I’m from Asia, like many students in my country, I’m working on my SAT course while still attending my school’s classes. Days filled with maths, physics, chemistry and biology could easily drive me mad. I’m not an excellent student in my school coz almost every students here are being selected as the toppest students when they were in elemantary school(and now I’m grade 11), they are very intellgent. Actually, 180 is my toppest place in the examination, and my average place is 300(we have 800 students in my grade).

I’m fighting against my pessimistic thoughts, trying to overcome these hardship, but sometimes it sticks on me and make overwhelming my whole body(sorry, it’s a little exaggerated)

My mother told me if I wasn’t being selected by the TOP30 US COL, then I’d better go back to my national school entrance examination. But I don’t want to go back when I’ve already gone so far away and I’ll be very soon suspended my school course for 2 or 3 months to prepare the SAT test. I have an aspiration of study in US when I was 14(but my parents didn’t want me to be abroad so early). Though I picked up SAT this year, will soon take the test in MAY OR JUNE. I like the country, almost everyting. But I’m still confused that I can’t finished the sections(CR & IS only) on time.

I’ll do my best to prepare for the SAT(EVERYONE WOULD MAKES SUCH CERTIFICATION IN THE BEGINNING… = =), so I want some help . The question above is done(I’ve already asked my teacher), thank you all the same. but the problem is I don’t know what I really need now, just some advice from you will be really appreciated. lol…

Sorry to make you fill with my poor sentences, I have my TOEFL report illustrated that I’m a grammar plus vocabulary lacker…

P.s. This is my ‘second’ article, for the first one I typed was deleted by the website when I unconsciously typed on the SWITCH-PAGE-key… ORZ,
(USE ONE CHINESE WORD TO DESCRIBE MY FEELING RIGHT NOW: 杯具…)

Yes. In fact, you must use the passive voice in that sentence, because it is never specified who is doing the questioning.

I got it, thanks!
