Question from the supplement, from an international point of view

From the Duke supplement:

If you have lived outside the U.S., please attach a sheet listing the cities and countries in which you have lived, indicating the years of residence in each.

From the Swarthmore supplement:

If you have lived outside the U.S., where, when, and for how long?

I assume this kind of question appears in other supplements as well, and is well suited for U.S. citizens. How should we, international students, most of whom never set foot on the U.S., reply? Simply list every place we ever lived in?

Yeah, that's it

Yep. Colleges want to know if you are about as French as it gets (French citizen, born and raised in France, never left the country for more than a week), or if your parents are diplomats and you have been living in 5 different countries. I was surprised to learn that about half of the international student population at my college lived for an extended period of time in at least two different countries before coming to college.

Ok, thanks for making it clear.
