I'm an out-of-state student (Michigan), and want to get into film. I applied to FSU but have yet to apply to their film school - still waiting for my letters of recommendation I requested. But I'm a little worried considering I've read their selection is very low, somewhere around 25-30 kids get accepted. Anyone ever applied, know someone who did, got accepted/rejected etc.? I want to know what my odds are.

Not much film experience, I've only had theater arts and media literacy class in my high school. (In media lit. we studied camera angles, made a storyboard, analyzed film so it dealt a little with film)

I got a 27 on my ACT
Mostly A's, GPA last time I checked was around 3.8. My AP scores might've raised it a little?

Likely not very good. The Film School at Florida State is so competitive it is hard to comprehend. I know of one student that was admitted to the program as an undergraduate. Unfortunately, I do not know the details of her work that enabled her offer of admission.

I know someone in NYU’s film undergrad program. He had lots of videos, read many books and was taking a number of classes at local colleges about film. Its similarly competitive program to FSU.

I would say it would be hard to get in for you.

i’m applying to fsu film!
i’ve had A LOT of film experience like working on an award-winning independent film and working on a short film for national geographic, but my Unweighted GPA is 3.5 (weighted is 5.3) and my SAT score is (ughhh) 1730.

i’m worried i won’ get in, but my resume and essay are good!

I felt someone should mention, regardless of the late post… a 5.3 gpa is not possible, because of the 5.0 max for ap courses, and the limited number of APs available.
