Question. I'm panicking.

What effect would a C or a B in an honors have on college admissions?
Because I'm starting to feel worthless.
I know it's only the beginning of the year, but things look grim. And no, the material is not difficult itself if proper teaching were provided, but unfortunately my teacher for that particular subject is horrible, degrading, offensive, and doesn't teach well at all.
I want to know the what ifs in case conditions don't improve. I've never felt so stupid in my life.
In fact, I'm petrified. I can't enjoy even a minute of peace anymore. I can't "play" without feeling horribly guilty. It's always on my mind. I keep on walking into things (i.e. I almost walked into a pole the other day) because I'm so stressed.

Refer to the sausage thread.

college reject =/= worthless.

I don't think that there's a college in the country that receiving a "B" will keep you from being admitted to. Most colleges even will admit students with several Cs.

Meanwhile, instead of wasting your time obsessing about your concerns, get a good tutor.

Your reaction also seems very extreme, and for that reason I strongly consider counseling. No one is worthless because of not maintaining straight As. Anyone who gets so upset that they walk into poles becasue of the possibility of receiving a B or C could benefit from some professional help to assist them in thinking more realistically. Please know that you will encounter challenges throughout your life. Some of those challenges, you will not be able to meet up to your standards. The sooner you learn to cope with this without falling apart, the better.

Stop wasting your nerves on this childish thing. You haven't even received C/B yet!

PS. Life is too short to be worried about grades that much, do some reality check.

you'll be fine
the world isnt going to end with a B... or a C
there is so much more to the world than grade... there is also so much more to getting into colleges than a single B or C
please just relax because all that stressing isnt good for you or your grade and you may end up harming your mental health

By "most colleges"... do you mean most TOP colleges? Or most average colleges...

I mean most colleges. Probably most top colleges would not, though some top 50 colleges would.

if it makes you feel any better, I have several friends at the second best public school in my state (NC State), and one of them got asked the oehr day by some ohter students the difference between an adjective and an adverb.

If they can get in to NCSU, I'm sure you can get into some decent schools.

I was overreacting big-time. Thanks, though.
All I needed to do was breathe, calm down, and find a solution. Thanks for propelling that process.
I've just never felt so lost before so that was scary.

Lol - hijacking time.

I'm going insane. I'm falling in and out of consciousness during class, my eyes are bloodshot, yet I still put off my homework to do Schaums Calculus ==... And in the morning, I wake up like \,\,\, ;,,,,; \,\,\,
Recently, I've been having small paroxyms ;) in my right side. It just feels like someone punched you on the shoulder for one second, and then its over. It is queer. Also, is it just me, or does a certain part of your 'brain' feel electric?
And to top it off, my teachers, albeit nice, think they are the only class I have. -- My backpack is huge, my back pains...

Welcome to High School Chaos. :)

Oh, what chaos! ;)
You eventually get used to it. Believe me, my backpack is like 25 lbs and it ripped. I use my locker often--that helps.
My weighted classes give so much homework! 20-30 pages of Cornell notes in your own time a week, supplemented with 40 pages of textbook reading and other little handouts/lecture notes. That's only one class.
You eventually get used to it. Like how I got used to sleeping 5 hrs a night. :) I actually skip lunch to do homework. I try to do some hw in class.

My backpack is 28 pounds.

My AP teachers usually don't give much formal homework, but if you don't study you fail your tests.

My APUSH teacher doesn't give us much classwork. We just listen to him and take notes. The only homework he gives us is a worksheet with over 40 names of significant people, documents, things, etc. and gives us a chapter to read a week. We then get tests and quizzes based on the reading.

I suppose I failed APUSH quiz because I didn't know what chapters to study :)
What to back-packs: my freshman backpack+football stuff weighted about 18-19 kilograms: 45 pounds??? Right now my backpack weighs barely 4-5 kilos -- woo-hoo to upperclassmen :P

at least you have a backpack.

I had a similar thing happen to me, mr_chipset. I read a chapter for APUSH that I didn't have to read. It wasn't for a test, but I did get frustrated and didn't notice until I was already done.

You don't know your grade yet, study hard, do the homework and listen in class.

my school has no lockers. on the other hand, I only carry around textbooks if I dind't finish my homework and htink it will be checked. But even then, the two classes I have textbooks for, teh teachers dont' really care when I turn in the homework.

and yes, they are AP. I love my school. I got an A in AP chem last year (and a 5 on the AP, which shows that my A was deserved) and never did te homework on time past the first week.
