<p>For competetive activities, Harvard will look at the accomplishments more than the time spent, right? Some of my hours per week are low, even though its because of the nature of the activity. Most of my activities are between 3 and 5 per week, is that typical? Sorry, i just let go and mailed my application, so I need to post here about it lol.</p>
<p>For the majority of your activities, 3-5 hrs is fine. The most significant activity should occupy more than 5 hrs/week, however. It does depend on the nature of what you're doing.</p>
<p>i have a question. Do they look at the hours per week and put a lot into the time spent? What if its a competetive event, and you are an extremely efficient studier, so you have great achievements with minimal time?</p>

<p>Well, it's sort of a balance of both. You certainly don't want to put down that you only spend 1-2 hours on your main activity. However, if it's an event like Chemistry Olympiad, and you only study 1-2 hours a week but still make it to the national team, that would be pretty impressive. It's all about the impression that you create in the adcom's mind...they want to see dedication, and dedication (usually) is equivalent to time spent.</p>
<p>EDIT: that said, i doubt that a low number of hours in a certain activity would hinder your application. Just make sure that overall, your time outside of school is well-accounted for.</p>
<p>Do they count the number of hrs outside of the activity that u put into it? e.g. transporatation time, research time, interview for magazine, etc.</p>

<p>i practice piano for around 6 hours each day but i dont wanna be pro, i just wanna give concerts for charity around the world and major in music wherever i go. How will this look, like I dont really commit to piano and i have no substantial achievements (cuz i dont really do competitons, my teacher doesnt recommend them) or that I have a dream and I work hard?</p>
