Question on Admissions

I posted earlier in the main forum but you guys seem to know BU better.

What is the average GPA / SAT scores for admission to the CAS?

I’ve got a 3.31 GPA (weighted) and I got a Reading 57, Math 49, Writing 52 on my PSATs (158 total out of 240).

I’m pretty lacking in EC’s too, currently only doing Chemistry Club and Math League. Thinking of joining School News Paper/Community Service School related program. Only awards are Honors every year.

Do I have a chance? And if not for regular admission, what about Early Decision?

BU is my first choice (dream school), 2nd school would be Northeastern which I don’t think I’ll have trouble getting into, any recommendation for any other schools in Boston that match my stats?

Thanks!

If you could seriously boost your SAT's I think that could make up for a lackluster GPA. It also depends upon your school. At my school with no GPA or rank kids with lower averages get in, but they also take a look at the prestige my school has and basically admit everyone.

what about Emerson College? that's also in Boston. Suffolk, too. I think you should be okay for Northeastern but your GPA's a little low for BU. Bring it up. But if you apply early decision I guarantee you'll get in!!!

How about general studies?

To be honest, the GPA is somewhat in the ballpark. However based on your PSAT scores you would only score about 1580 our of 2400 which is very low. The math score of 49 on the PSAT might be indicative of a 490 on the math SAT. But if you are a junior, you have some time to prep and bring up both your GPA and those standardized test scores. If you really love BU...go for it.
