I passed my English language and comp. and US history AP tests--but I passed both with a 3. If I want to transfer to UCLA or UCB, is it better if I just take English 101 and US History and get good grades, or simply skip both because I passed the AP tests?

i just skipped them -- u can do other things to fill your igetc. but htese also count towards your igetc so why waste time? make sure the credit articulates to your CC though -- talk to your CC counselor about that.

Just out of curiosity rshaan, have you already transferred?

well i just got into ucla, uci, and ucsd -- ucb tomorow

(lol i was as paranoid when i was getting into the transfer business as you must be now, thats why i was excited to see your post and responded relatively quickly)

what major are you doing?

Well I'm glad someone relates to my paranoia :)

I plan on majoring in comparative literature, which is not very popular I've come to discover, hehe. I know that since it's not an impacted major I have a better chance at tranferring, but I'm still very, very paranoid.

What scores did you receive on your AP scores and what are you majoring in? (Sorry if I'm drilling you with questions!)

np man,
3- eng lit, eng lang, stats, gov
4- calc ab, us history

start hammering out your IGETC and do it as efficiently as possible, take the easiest classes (ratemyprofessors, coursehero or w/e that new grade ranking system is) and etc, dont work too hard!!

and of course, get A's -- don't walk into a class thinking you'll do any less than that. TAP if you can.

other than that, get a job and a girlfriend.

Thanks for the advice rshaan--except for the girlfriend part since I myself am a straight female, lol.

scratches head oh err lol okay sorry about that... so watch anything good on tv recently? im usually not one for mtv but i started watching The Paper

Hmm I don't really watch MTV but a friend of mine told me about that show (I'm an editor of my school paper, something I highly regret). I'm really into The Office, though.

haha yess i would blame my newspaper participation as the reason I ended up at a CC, i did it for 2.5yrs in high school.

the office is hilarious! i didn't really like the first episode this 'season' bc i thought it concentrated too much on michael's life outside the office, making it awkward and exaggerated more than anything else. the last two were exceptional, though.

what high school?

I've been part of the school paper for about 2 years now. I thought it was fun for the first few months, but then my advisor and the editors made me write the crappy stories that no one else would do. And then I was pressured into being an editor, and blah blah blah.

But I wouldn't say that I'm attending a ccc because of newspaper. I blame it on my inability to do math. How was your experience with the school paper?

loool inability to do math?

i really enjoyed it -- up until the last year at least. It was an amazing and creative environment to work in and the people were all really awesome. I was the photo editor / a photographer. The last year, though, the teacher screwed me over...

what section are you editor of?
