Question on AP tests and credits for IGETC/Berkeley specifically

Hi all,

My question is, how do AP tests and credits work?

I'm starting at De Anza and I want to transfer to Berkeley and I was wondering what my AP tests would help me with.

Here's what I got:

AP Bio - 4
AP Gov - 3
AP Hist. - 3
AP Stats - 3

Specifically, my prospective major is Economics (most likely) and I really don't know what those scores do for me.

Thanks in advance!

does De Anza use semester or quarter system?

De Anza is on the quarter system.
Hey poppin. I will be attending De Azna this fall as well. I pass my AP Govt. test with a 3 and the Assessment office told me i had to take another test called the Challenge test of California Govt. and pass that in order to received credits for POL 1. I think that’s pretty lame. Because what was the point of passing the AP exam. I'm not sure if you have to take it for the other subjects, but they mention in the last couple of years only a handful of people have taken this test because many students end up taking the class anyways and have no use for their AP scores. But i thought AP exams were suppose to save us time& money?!
