Question on CommonAp ECs

On the Common Application they ask questions about how many hours a week do you spend for a sport. Do you include the hours spent getting there and getting home?

If it was just the swimming practice itself it'd be 2 hours or 2.5 hours.

If it includes the travel and other time spent, it would be 4 hours a day.

lol, there’s not even much of a difference. i would swing for the 4 hours a day though.

Lol I think you could prbly throw travel time in. Most people, though its sad, exaggerate their hours pritty heavily. The difference between 2 and 4 hours is very minimal though.

You could argue that the extra 2 hours is time spent away from your schoolwork/ devoted to swimming, which is the point of colleges asking for ECs. I would also say throw in the extra time.

You can include transportation time and other preparation time.

Ha, glad to see a fellow swimmer asked this question; I was wondering the same thing. Now I’ll have more like 30 hours a week instead of 20.
