Question on Cornell essays

Does Cornell like creative essays, or does it look down on them (I am trying to stay away from writing an essay that says "This is why I like science" though better written). By creative, I mean UChicago caliber

Why not write a creative essay? It could make you stand out :)

When I wrote my essays, I keep the “short essay” very formal and concise. On my “personal essay”, I put my voice in there and I also include direct phrase, like “dear committee, I believe I have what you’re looking for…”. On my “supplemental essay”, I just go crazy – I wrote it in a very formal but creative way.
For myself, I tend to keep all my essays a little bit humorous.
