<p>GRE has analogy and antonym sections, so studying 500, 1000, 10000 GRE words is understandable.</p>
<p>However would you suggest people who are preparing for the GMAT to also study these vocab words?</p>
<p>Or would it be more effective to just study some grammar and read books.</p>

<p>the GMAT verbal has almost nothing to do with word memorization. It has everything to do with sentence structure and proper grammar</p>
<p>I didn't study any vocab words at all. Just take practice tests until your eyeballs fall out of their sockets.</p>

<p>There is an essay section which is very easy and contains two essays (And the score is seperate from your overall score).</p>
<p>You main scores are determined by two sections: Quantitative (math) and Verbal. Each of these sections have a few different types of questions (can't remember them off top of my head but some in verbal were "critical reasoning" and "reading comprehension"). The test adapts to how well you are doing. If you get a question right, it will ask you a tougher question. If you get a question wrong, the next question will be easier.</p>
<p>To prepare, just get the official GMAT prep book, the princeton review book and the kaplan 800 and take some practice tests online.</p>
