1) Is it okay if I have a 3.9 unweighted GPA? I might get a B in an honors history class.
2) My school only offers 10 AP classes. I will be taking four total. In most of the AP classes kids generally don't get 5s, if I don't, then will it jeopardize me? I know I could take more, but most of them are offered in grade 11 and 12. I have no idea how I am supposed to have the time to study for so many of them. (Is it true that colleges know about the high school you're from?)
3) It seems to me like high test scores are the most important, the colleges say they aren't, but it's very apparent that the SAT is the single most important determining factor. Agree/disagree?
Thank you.

dont freak out
- it happens
- do what you can
- disagree

none of us are from harvard admissions so just apply and continue to work hard

Are you a sophomore? I would not feel so pressured about getting a B. It’s fine. I feel badly for you if you are so worried about grades, in 10th grade.

Are you afraid to take AP classes because you are thinking that less than stellar scores will jeopardize your chances? I would take AP’s in any subject that interests you, work hard, and try to enjoy them. If you don’t want that kind of workload, that is fine too: live your life for you, not for Harvard. You will end up in a school that is good for you if you do that.

Harvard’s admissions look at the whole person, and not just scores. A talented musician, or a person who has overcome dramatic obstacles, might get in with lower scores, for instance. Just do the best you can, and apply to a range of schools.

In 10th grade, I would hope you could not think about this stuff for a little while, and just enjoy high school if possible. Explore your interests. A lot can happen in the next couple of years. You might not even want to go to Harvard!

Actually, I’m in grade 11. The reason I am freaking out is because seeing the insane applicants on here get rejected makes me feel horrible. Some people on this sight take a rife amount of AP classes and score 5’s on every exam. They have so many awards and things and still get rejected. It makes me feel inadequate when I will not be anywhere near there stat-wise, and I worry I am competing out of my league.
I am in Florida, if it matters.

SAT is one of the Major components of college admissions.

GPA and SAT are both SUPER important although GPA might be most important. You guys can have fun trying to get in with 3.5 UW GPA and 2000 SAT with “GREAT” essays.
