My question is on how most colleges recalculate GPA for an applicant. The school I attended as a freshman and sophomore was on a 12 point scale, so an A was a 11/12. Therefore my unweighted GPA is a 3.75 even though I received all A's. Sophomore year I got all A's as well and my GPA was only slightly higher at 3.79. But when colleges recalculate their GPA, are all types of A's equal to each other?

I know when I visited UChicago they said that an A is an A, regardless of plus or minus. But is this common among most schools, or does it really just depend? The only reason I'm concerned is because I've been an all A student for the past three years but my UW GPA is 3.83. TIA
