Kind of stupid but…
How would colleges view a student completely turning it around at the start of junior year with all A’s?
My first two years were pretty bad gpa-wise… then I moved schools and got a 4.0 throughout.
My old school however was ranked in the top 100 high schools US News and #1 in the state.
So… would colleges think “oh… this kid’s lazy”? or would this be a big plus? I’m kind of worried…
thanks guys
Were there any particular reasons that your first two years were bad? If it’s personal or you feel the desire to explain why without making it sound like an excuse, you could mention it in your essay if you’re writing about yourself or any adversity you overcame.
Colleges like to see improvement. They’d rather see the kid who went from 2.0 to 3.6 than a 4.0 who got senioritis and went down to 3.7. It can’t hurt you, especially if you maintain this improvement. I feel, contrary to other opinions maybe, that the school you go to doesn’t determine your chances or success. It’s the student that matters–not the school.
