Question on 'middle range SSAT scores'

I see these get mentioned a lot on this forum, specifically when talking about chances. So what exactly do people mean by that, as in if you are below that you are automatically disqualified, or if you are above you are likely to get in? If so what percentage(I assume percentage, because a flat amount would be absurd for top tier and schools with say an average SSAT percentile of 50%) of the school’s SSAT scores create the + or - minus for these scores?

Thanks

Any SSAT score that is much lower than the school average, eg. 30+ below will be a huge red flag to admissions officers. Your chances are very low unless you have other hooks that can come into play.

Any SSAT score that is around the average or higher than the school average is fine. It won’t hurt, but it also won’t help much. It just shows that you can handle the workload at the school.
