I'm a junior this year and I was wondering how mid year reports work. I want to SCEA to yale next year, so I'll be writing my apps before the end of the first semester. If I make it in, does the mid year report matter at all (assuming I'm not tanking my classes)? If I don't make it (most likely scenario) how do the mid year reports affect my chances at any school for RD? Please help me out-I want to know the answer before I schedule my classes for next year.

I’m a senior this year and I know my school counselors were in the process of sending our mid year reports. I’m assuming mid year reports consist of the first semester which is 1st and 2nd mp. It’s important to not slack off your senior year and do well because colleges look at your senior grades too before they decide to accept or reject you. In some situations the report could make it or break it. Colleges don’t want to see a downward trend in grades.

If you’re accepted EA, you don’t send the mid-year report, only a final transcript at the end of the year. If your grades are substantially lower, a school can rescind your admission at that time, ie. don’t slack too much or you’ll be on here crying like so many others.

If you are deferred, you send a mid-year report. How it affects your RD chances is exactly what logic would dictate.
