question on ncaa eligibility

ds will probably take a college class this fall semester. he already will have enough core classes in this subject area with ncaa and so doesn't need this class for ncaa core requirements. just wondering though if taking a college course on the college campus can have any negative effect with ncaa and the recruiting process that we are unaware of. he will still be taking his other classes at the high school and will graduate in the spring.

I can’t imagine why it would be a bad thing, just give them a head start in credits, like AP high school classes… But if you are really concerned just call the NCAA and ask.

I don’t know the rules, but anecdotally I can tell you it should be fine. My D participated in one of those accelerated summer college courses for HS students programs as a HS sophomore, and the college credits are on her HS transcript. The NCAA clearinghouse cleared her without any questions.

Good luck.
