Question on Permission to Transfer

Hello, new member here.
I have a question on how the ncaa permission to transfer process works. I’m a division 2 student-athlete currently trying to get permission to speak with a division 1 coach. I contacted my coach already and he said he would approve any permission to contact request from the other school. I updated the other coach and now I’ve been waiting. For me to get permission to speak with this other coach do i have to do anything else or will the two institutions take care of everything?

Why don’t you simply contact the NCAA directly and ask you question?

My experience is that permission to contact comes in writing from your current school’s athletic director. Ask to be sent a copy of the written communication that was sent to the school you are interested in. You can ask your current school for a copy so that you can make sure you are not violating any rules and in doing so, it will give you proof that it was actually done.

Your current school has to grant or deny this permission within a 14 day window and if they think you do not know this they may sit on your request for a while.

Getting a copy of any communication sent will also let you see if they are giving you permission to talk to all schools or just one specific school. If they only granted you permission for one school, you will need to ask your current school each and every time you want to talk to another coach.
