Does anyone know what the question means that reads, “How many college credits have you taken to date, post high school graduation?” The question is found in the College Information section of the coalition application. My daughter will have 100+ college credits when she graduates in May. She is a dual-enrollment student, and will graduate high school with her AA Degree in addition to her high school diploma. She doesn’t want to select “0” credits since she will have over 100 college credits, yet the phrase “post high school graduation” would not apply to her since she has not graduated yet. Obviously, she wants her coalition application to be accurate. Any clarification you can provide will be very much appreciated. This is the last question she needs to answer before submitting the coalition application.
How many college credits will she have taken after graduating high school? zero.
All her college credits were through dual enrollment (very common).
This question is not to deny her advanced standing at some schools that will grant it – it’s to see if after HS, she attended any college – thus requiring her to apply as a transfer student rather than as a 1st year student. This question has nothing to do with awarding credit but to verify status as a transfer applicant or not.
Thank you for your response @T26E4 . I actually spoke to someone in the admissions office at USC today, and they confirmed this is what is being asked. My daughter actually wants to take additional chemistry course work this summer after graduation, but from your statement, that would mean she would have to apply to colleges as a transfer student instead of as a freshman. It sounds like she should skip the additional summer chemistry work and wait until college begins in the spring . Thank you again for your response!
Once admitted, she will have more options. But that’s a conversation to be had with her destination college after May. They may or may not be loathe to grant credit for classes.
