Can anyone tell me which top-tier schools (outside of Ivies, Standford, and MIT) place the LEAST emphasis on E.C.'s? Obviously there is no school that doesn't consider them, but if a top college were to accept a student with minimal activities, what college (or colleges) would that be?

Note: by "E.C.'s" I mean things involved with school such as sports, clubs, etc. This does not include community service.

Thanks...

Generally public universities put more emphasis on statistical information (GPA, class rank, standardized test scores) and less on subjective achievements than private colleges and universities.

Thanks, hudsonvalley. I have heard that before, but I’ve also heard that getting into top public schools OOS is extremely difficult, in general.

I suggest you look into University of Michigan, which even though it is harder to get into for OOS, it still places less emphasis on EC’s.

Even so, UMich is the token “safety school slash match” even for out-of-state students applying to top tier schools.

public universities.

You should look into the UCs.
