Question on Transferring to university from CC

I apologize if this question has been asked before, but I am curious. A brief background on me: I am entering my third year at a community college. I changed my major after the first year and a half. As a result of me growing to hate my first major, my grades were sub-par. I plan to transfer to a university after this year. I’m taking as many courses as I can (taking summer and winter classes between semesters) to bring my GPA from a 2.6 to as high as I can get it during this final year at CC.

My question is, if I want to apply to the new school for Fall semester 2017, when should I actually send in my application while still having my Spring semester 2017 still factored into my GPA? Would it not be wise to wait until say June or July to send it in? I just really need a full-year’s worth of classes to be factored into the GPA that the new school will look at, and not just Fall 2016. Any tips and personal experiences are appreciated. Thanks!

Hi! Not sure of what you’re trying to say but applications whether it’s UC or CSUs are due at the end of November. So you’ll be submitting your grades obtained before Fall 2016 for the application. Fall 2016 grades will need be updated around January 2017. You’ll be notified of whether you got accepted in the Spring so there’s really no way they can take those Spring grades and consider you for admission at that time. They’ll only be considering your Fall 2016 grades and prior. But as far as I know, spring GPA isn’t a deciding factor ultimately for initial admission. Your Spring GPA can jeopardize your admitted status if you fall below a certain GPA they gave you or if you didn’t pass your classes.
