Question - Orientation dates and availability

So I just got my acceptance email from CSE yesterday, and now I need to start looking into signing up for an A&O session. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten the official acceptance packet from UW yet so (as I understand it) I can't pay the new student enrollment fee or look at the available orientation dates. Can anyone that has paid the enrollment fee tell me if orientation is being held on August 3rd and/or 4th? Additionally, if there are a limited number of spaces available for those dates, can you tell me how many have been filled and how many are still open?

I'm going to need to fly out to Seattle for orientation and it's difficult to make these plans without knowing the orientation dates, so any information you can give me helps.

Oh, and bonus question for those of you that have gotten into competitive majors: about how long was the wait between getting your acceptance email from the department and getting the official UW acceptance letter in the mail?

I registered for my orientation on July 1 and the earliest possible date was August 3rd. I’m sure a bunch of people have registered after me, so it’s probably full. Your best bet is to contact UW itself, because none of us students are going to have information about how full the sessions are. If someone registered after me and had to pick a later date, it could give you an indication as to whether the August 3rd one is full, but for a definite decision calling UW is your best bet.

They added some dates, but I’m not able to look at them anymore because I’m within two weeks.

AZTransfer, congrats on getting into CSE. See you in the building next year, and perhaps in class!

I’m guessing you’re a transfer (from your username…), which is why you haven’t gotten the New Student packet yet. Contact the admissions office (206) 543-9686 about the orientation dates. That’s your best bet. See if they can just sign you up for one, otherwise you might have to wait until late August or even September.

Also, a bit about CSE admissions: For direct admit freshmen, they generally sent out notifications in late March or so. Then a second round (if people reject UW and go to a different school) in around May.

On Friday, the admissions office just sent out admissions notifications for “upper division admissions” ([CSE Admission Requirements](http://www.cs.washington.edu/education/ugrad/admit/programapply.html)). You’re one of the acceptances, so major congrats! From one of the professors, I heard it was a complete blood bath. People who were qualified didn’t get in (they have a certain quota per admissions cycle, so they can’t just admit everyone at the same time.).

So in a way … I can’t tell you when your new student packet will show up, because you’re more a special case. If you have any questions about CSE department, let me know!
