Question, please help

Am I supposed to send in my 7th semester grades to USNA? I know that USMA specifically requests it, but I am not sure about navy. Sorry if this question has already been asked.

Yeah, I think they do.

Are you seriously going to rely on the advice you receive from an anonymous message board . . . ?

DeepThroat

In my opinion, the bottom line is, it doesn't hurt to send them extra bits of information they could use for admission process.

There is no documentation with the appointment package that requests the updates. I would assume you are safe to wait for a request to send such updates.

I do not know what this year's application instruction reads. However, in previous years, the instructions have stated that USNA does want the 7th semester grades and it is the responsibility of the candidate to turn it in. I recommend that you contact your BGO.

From the application -
2. If there is a change in information I have provided or has been submitted on my behalf to the USNA, I will immediately inform the Admissions Office.

If anything (GPA, Rank, sports, EC's, etc) changes you are supposed to notify them "immediately". Your judgment on how significant the change...better safe than sorry. They will want your final transcript anyway.

Of course, you could also read this differently in that, it doesn't cover future information....it says "have" and "has". So really, it is only mandating corrections for what you had already submitted at the time of application and technically doesn't require updates for future activity relating to the application specifics.

They will want your final transcript before I-day reporting. Not sure what else they ask for at the end of your senior year. I would assume it is the final report stuff that they use to put together the "Class of 2010" profile.

Sparkle: do yourself a favor and call the admissions office at USNA- they are very helpful and will give you the information you need. Don't take any chances on tarnishing that sparkle now!

Practice your chain of command: BGO first, Regional Coordinator second, other admissions last. ;)

Thanks to everyone who posted back, i have emailed my B&G and will post the info for others that also have the same ?

I have an actual question that my son wanted me to ask. Is he allowed to bring his supplements to the Academy ie Creatine, NO2, protein etc...?

The cadre open and inspect all packages sent to plebes during the summer. In my daughter's company, a shipmate received nutrition supplements and they were taken away. No vitamins, no OTC medicine, no candy.

Especially not creatine that is a no no.

Whether or not they are allowed, I hope the suppliments are being taken under medical supervision- creatine and concentrated protein are not benign-

Then what else do parents send their kids except for letters and Powerbars?

gatorade powder to mix in canteens...

Remember, only H2O in canteens! Send a separate water bottle for powdered gatorade. Send inspirational poems, handwritten letters, photographs of family, friends, and pets. Plebes are too busy to shop at the midstore, so send cleaning supplies. The parents' listserves will give you all of this information. Make hotel reservations for Plebe Parents Weekend as soon as you get the appointment.

okay, gatorade powder to mix in nalgene bottles. I wasn't there (thank goodness!) so I really don't know what he mixed it in, and I am sure that the plebes are very well informed about what they can and cannot do with their canteens! :)

Our swim team started a letter writing campaign that our mid said was a great support. The most appreciated letter was a series of questions we wanted to ask with checkboxes for yes, no. Made answering fast and easy and he was very excited about it. Saved him a buncha time and still let him communicate a lot of info.

Is protein permitted? Most of the football players and weighlifters at our public high school use protein and creatine as it is not outlawed so I wonder about the football team at USNA. Our physician saw no problem in using creatine as long as Jake cycled off every 4 weeks. Are you just referring to plebe summer?
