Question re: application/activities

This is probably a very newbie question but I really am clueless on this. We homeschool so I have to submit a portfolio anyway, but as S is going to be auditioning at a couple of colleges for music, it crossed my mind that instead of extracurricular activities, he should maybe list the gigs he has done, especially the bigger ones. For those who don't know, S is a guitarist (contemporary mostly) and he will be pursuing recording tech as well as composition and performance. (Berklee, Cinc. Cons.'s new Commercial Music Production, Belmont, and Five Towns top his list).
Shameless brag here: for example next weekend he's playing a huge 3-day festival "opening" for Lynyrd Skynyrd and there will be several other big names there as well. (Well, opening in the sense that he's playing before them and on the same day lol). Is this the kind of thing he should include? As a violinist, I included my All State and Governor's Honors back in the day, but I wasn't sure about this.

Shellybean, my S had some big gigs in HS and listed those on his applications. He applied to 4 schools and they each had a their own variation of an application so I am not exactly sure where he put those important gigs but I know he did. He did a lot of his application stuff in school in his college seminar class so I didn’t pay close attention to details. I think it is very important for applicants to paint a picture of who they are and what kind of talents/potential they may have. My S is now a freshman in the pop program at USC. Good luck! If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to PM me. I was once in your shoes and understand.
