Hi. Is there any chance that LMU would match or at least increase the financial aid offer for my child to make it more commensurate with the aid being offered by Pepperdine? Pepperdine offered a very generous financial aid package consisting mainly of scholarships that is almost double to what LMU offered. Do private colleges actually look at or take into account what their “rival” colleges offer? I have been receiving a lot of conflicting advice regarding whether or not to talk to the LMU financial aid dept about this. Thank you in advance.
All you can do is ask.
These are two very different schools with their own budgets. Only they can tell you if they will match the offer.
Contact FA at LMU. If LMU really wants your child, then they may offer something.
You might want to post this in the LMU forum to see if other parents have had success.
The Pepperdine cost of attendance is listed at $7000 more than LMU.
Are you trying to get LMU to match the net cost of Pepperdine…or the aid you received from Pepperdine.
Since Pepperdine costs more…maybe that’s why you got more aid there.
How much more aid do you need to get from LMU?
Basically all the private schools he applied to gave him enough scholarships to make it commensurate to the price of a UC - with the one exception being LMU.
Sorry. I thought I did. Can you move this thread to the LMU forum?
So…how much more aid do you hope to get from LMU?
About $10-14,000
It is always worth asking.
Here are the average costs at the two based on income. They are similar and neither meet 100% of need.
