Hey everyone,

Im planning to apply to Cornell for the Fall 2009 Semester as a transfer student from a California Community College. The major I am currently pursuing is Applied Economics and Management. Unfortunately, the major requires two years of Biology with labs, and I will not be able to complete those classes before transfer. All other requirement will be fulfilled.

I currently have a 3.9 GPA with outstanding extracurriculars. Do you think I still have a legitimate chance?

They are very strict about these requirements. There have been a few cases where people got in after taking one bio before applying and then taking the 2nd during the summer before entering, but usually if you don't have the requirements done you won't get in.

AEM is very competitive, so either find a way to take the courses in time or apply after you've finished the requirements.

Good luck.

I transferred into AEM and my school did not have the correct courses so I couldn't fulfill the requirement. I wouldn't worry because they may be changing the requirement. I would call the admissions office to let them know what your situation is and see what they say.
