I've been browsing through some colleges to apply to for a graduate program. My UG is a Computer Engineering degree so I've been looking at courses such as CS related or something more on the management side such as Engineering Management and Information Technology Management. So when skimming through websites looking for upcoming Fall Admissions I noticed there was a great variance among deadline dates.

CS related courses for top 10 universities generally closed at around mid Dec. Others below it, say top 50 were closing at around Jan-March. I just checked out a few Management courses and those were far more deviant some even having August deadlines.

So my questions are

How exactly does this work out, the great range in deadlines, is this based on a programs competitiveness or something? To programs with earlier dates tend to have more competition?

For those deadlines in August, July for the fall semester is that enough time to complete the admission process?

About how early should I submit my applications?
