(Hopefully there will be someone who would be able to help me.)

I’m curious if I need to take chemistry my first semester. I vaguely recall it being advised that you take chemistry your first semester. However, it’s causing major conflicts in my schedule. Would it be OK if I instead substitute chemistry with a calculus course, and take chemistry in the future?

I ask this here because I have yet to be asigned an academic advisor and have no where else to ask.

If so, my courses would look something like:
Bio 107
MA 121 (calculus)
Some Writting 100
Some language

It looks fine so far, but keep in mind that BI 108 (second sem bio) requires that you’ve taken CH 101 before. It’s also ok if you do them both simultaneously. So you will have to take CH 101 along with BI 108 in the spring, which might be difficult and force you to take CH 102 over the summer…

Also, I was able to get AP credit towards BI 107 and skip ahead to second sem Bio so see if that is available to you

It’s actually not required that you take CH 101 before/while taking BI 108. It is “recommended,” but I didn’t and I still got an A, so obviously it’s really not a big deal if you don’t take it. Personally I would recommend taking CH 101 during the spring, because apparently it’s a lot easier due to a decreased amount of premed students.
