question regarding buying books

if im going to the last ctops, meaning i wont know which classes im in until a few days before they start, when do i buy my textbooks? do i have to buy them at the student store for 203948234 dollars? because some ppl add and drop courses within the first week, does it make sense to buy all your books for the first day? im confused, pleease help lol

thanks!

um u can sign up for some free service from the student bookstore (theyll tell u about this at ctops) and basically when u sign up u give them permission to access ur account and see ur classes, then u go to the store and they will have all the books u need for class in a box. I think u can specify if u want new or used or best price...but I didn't bother to sign up for this because many professors tell u at the first day of class that u need a diff. book or dont need one at all....

plus amazon.com is a lot cheaper sometimes, gotta shop smart

"many professors tell u at the first day of class that u need a diff. book or dont need one at all...."

^does this mean a lot of people dont bother getting books for the first day?

and yeah i use amazon, too, which is why i was confused b/c between the time i find out my classes and the time classes actually start, thats 3 or 4 days, which isnt enough time to order books online and receive them.

um my sis went to UNC-Greensboro and she bought books but she could return it in the first week...so when I said some professors dont require books I meant u should buy the books and go to class and find out. then u can return it or change it. plus u can pay a little extra for fast shipping on amazon and it might still be cheaper than local bookstore. u just have to be careful with editions and stuff cuz that changes rather quickly

ohh okay thanks!

misstina, im thinking ill just go with that book service the first semester, since itll be such a crunch, and then just do amazon and stuff from now on cuz ill have more time...
