Question regarding class transferability

Several semesters ago I took a class labeled CSCI 105 "Survey of Computer Science" a 4 unit class which I received a "B" in.

My question is in regards to the line in the class description that reads: "UC - CSCI 105 and 110 combined: maximum credit, one course"

Now clearly this means that both classes must be taken to receive credit in one, but my question is: Considering I received a "B" in the first class and assuming, god willing, I receive an "A" in CSCI 110(which is also 4 units btw) how will the grade be transferred?

Will I be given an "A" in a 4 unit class? Or a "B"? Or some odd mixture of the two?

I read this as, if you complete both CSCI 105 and 110 we can only give you transferable credit for one course. Most likely the course that was completed first would be used for admissions and the second completed course would be treated as a duplication of credit. This could change if you need one course to meet graduation requirements instead of the the other.
If you are still confused please contact the UC campus you are interested in attending.

Would both courses factor into your UC transferable GPA?

If they both transfer- yes. You just get unit credit thr one. If the other for example is a preq you can still take the next course up. (atleast this was the case with me at UCLA- i had some math courses where there was a “max credit of xyz”)

@UCD Admissions. Thanks that answers my question.

Sorry for the poor wording of my question, the situation is a bit difficult to read even for me.

Here’s a link to the official PDF of the catalog pages referring to the classes in question: http://www.palomar.edu/catalog/2008/pdf/compscicompsci.pdf

Second page, right side, under “Course Offerings” look for where it says “Transfer Acceptability”.

It appears that in order to obtain an AA degree you need to complete both courses; I would contact an adviser at Palomar college for advise in regards to the AA degree. However for transfer credit, the UC campuses will only be able to give credit for one of the courses.
