My DD was accepted to Elon EA and she is excited. She applied for two of the Fellows scholarships. My question is whether this process is completely separate from Admissions? If one receives or does not receive a scholarship is it indicative of whether one is competitive for a Fellows scholarship? Is SAT/ACT score determinative of a Fellows spot?
I can’t answer your questions, but my son is planning to apply for Fellows, and his ACT is not at the stated average level (31), it is a 29. He did get the Elon engagement scholarship. FYI I have mentioned this in other threads but one of our tour guides says her biggest regret was NOT applying for Fellows. She didn’t think she would get it, but once she was attending Elon and talking to other Fellows, she realized that she probably had a pretty good chance. (She didn’t give specifics on her tests or grades).
Elon has a few different fellows options. In my D’s acceptance she received the Presidential Scholarship and they recommended she apply for the Honors fellowship. Honors is the most competitive based on stats. The Leadership fellow is also really competitive, but with a higher emphasis on community service. She applied for Honors and Elon College. She couldn’t go down for the interview in person, so did it over the phone. She was accepted into both and was asked which one she wanted. Definitely apply, the worst thing that can happen is not to get it.
Many thanks. My daughter wants to apply and the applications are due January 10. The essays require some thought for the different Fellowships and she was wondering with an ACT of 30 would she even have a chance.
