Question regarding OOS Recruiting Scholarship

If i have not received my acceptance letter before February 15 when most letters are sent out does it mean that i am unlikely to receive the out of state recruiting scholarship or even a stipend? I realize i am on the border with my academic resume and am curious if anyone can help.

GPA: 3.48
ACT: 33

^ good question, OOS 3.6 34ACT waiting here also.

I would say that if you do not get an acceptance letter by the February 15th date, it is highly unlikely that you will get an out of state recruiting scholarship (though you may still be in the running for some other scholarships). The minimum requirements for the OOS recruiting scholarship is an ACT of 31 or SAT of 1350 and a suggested ranking in the 10% of your high school class.

It says on the financial aid website that the last day to hear from academic recruiting scholarships is March 15th but most people I know received theirs fairly early on in the application process

Thank you i know most of the people who i know applying there already got letters so i was just wondering, but we’ll see fingers crossed

^ it’s that top 10% that’s a killer, with our huge and highly-ranked academic hs that means 4.10 and up… they like to think that everyone “out there” will know about the school when they hear the name, but then most kids seem to target the midwest. Once out of the area our school is just one of many with a similar profile.

keeping fingers crossed also :)

for scholarships and the honors college, I’ve been told that they will consider the prestige of your high school but the top 10% rank criteria here is indeed tough. However, you have to consider why they are doing this.

In the US News rankings, schools are rated on the quality of their students and the two factors that US News uses for this category are SAT/ACT scores and the percentage of students in the top 10% of their high school class. I’m guessing that Clemson wants to increase their stats in these categories which is why there is the class rank criteria in the out of state recruiting scholarship.

I applied to Clemson as an out of stater and got accepted with a 2230 SAT, top 1.5%, and a 4.43W GPA, which is great and all. Actually, I also got a $14,000/yr scholarship. However, I really want to get into their Calhoun Honors Program and I was wondering when I will find out notification on that. Anyone know?

You’ll find out about Calhoun Honors Program (if you applied before December 15th) by February 15th. I think you are pretty much in already with your stats.

Okay, thanks. I was a bit concerned when I didn’t find out along with my admission.

yeah the honors college application process is separate from the admissions process
