If I got an F in one of my classes during my one quarter at UCSC does it count towards me GPA when trying to transfer from a CC to another UC? Class was precalc. Also would the other grades I received also factor into my CC gpa for transfer? thanks

Every grade you’ve ever received will factor in. It’s pretty hard to switch between UCs as it is and for the most part, you have to make sure you don’t go over 80-90 TOTAL units before you transfer.

Or do you mean you just took one class at UCSC and you’ve only attended a CC?

I took a summer course at UCSC 6 years ago, only went to one class, didn’t drop, and my Incomplete magically turned into an F. As a result, my nearly 3.8 CC gpa is now a 3.53, in the eyes of the UCs. And as far as I can tell, unless UCLA denied me for some other reason (not likely) they do count that grade.

all courses taken at a UC are UC transferable so it will definitely count. Furthermore, after you transfer to a UC it will be calculated into your gpa. I went to UCSB before transferring to Berkeley and my gpa on my Berkeley transcript takes into account my UCSB coursework.

@killmyentourage i actually went to UCSC for 1 quarter and took 3 classes. in one of them i got an F. if i retook that class at a community college will it replace the F that i received at UCSC?

you’ll have to retake it at ucsc to replace it.

i see thanks for the info. and just to make sure…if I left UCSC on academic probation, does it make me ineligible for TAG?

actually, you might not even be able to transfer if you’re on academic probation. I recall someone getting their admission rescinded my year because they were on academic probation at one of their old schools.

“The final, official transcript UC receives from the institution from which you are transferring must indicate that you are in good standing. If you are not in good standing, the offer of admission may be withdrawn.”

[University of California - Admissions decisions](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/how-to-apply/after-you-apply/admission-decisions/index.html)

it says that the transcript i send from the institution from which i am transferring must indicate that im in good standing. since im trying to transfer from a community college wouldn’t it still be ok?

does anyone know if what killmyentourage is saying is accurate? basically am im ineligible to transfer from a CC to another UC if I left UCSC under academic prbation?

I left UCSC right after I was put on academic probation, which would’ve began the next quarter. I have since applied to another university, and although I wasn’t admitted, the academic probation was not a factor. You just need to be eligible to RETURN to all previous academic institutions. If you were not expelled, you are fine.

As for the F, get in touch with your UCSC college’s advising department, and ask them about the possibility of academic renewal. I am currently trying to do this.

And also, if you want someone to talk to about your UCSC experiences from someone who, from the sound of it, went through the same stuff you did, shoot me a PM sometime. :3

thanks for the info. i didnt know academic renewal was a possiblity at a UC. do you know the requirments/details surrounding that?

They don’t have it, on paper. But for certain cases I think it may be a possibility. It is UCSC, after all, not Berkeley.
