Hi, I took the GRE a couple months ago and was planning on retaking the exam at the end of the month. When I was taking the exam I remember that at the bottom of the computer screen there was a button saying "skip this section". Is it possible to retake the exam while skipping certain parts of the exam, and if so how does a graduate program view such a score? For me, I scored poorly on the verbal section but got an 800 on the quantitative and a 6.0 for the writing, and I figured maybe if I skipped those sections I wouldn't be as tired out when the verbal section would come about. I just wasn't sure if that is possible/how it would be viewed.

How bad was your verbal score?
What programs are you applying to?
What field are you going for?

Those are good scores on those two sections. I wouldn’t take it again, unless of course you got something atrocious on the verbal, like < 500.

(If you’re a liberal arts major, you might want to take it again and gun for at least a 700. I got a 710 on the verbal section, and I’m going into CS… so it’s possible).
