My average GPA is around 3.40, and I took an extra class this summer(math subject). In which I regretted doing, because it is way harder than I have expected it to be, plus summer classes tend to be faster than regular classes do. I'm quite sure I will get a low grade on this, around B the most. The subject that I took is not related to my course outline in the community college that I am in. My question is will that affect my GPA even though it is not related to my course outline? Also, is getting 'W'(Withdraw) in that course better than getting a low grade that will result on lowering my GPA and hurt my chances on going to a decent university?

Only one semester left before I finish my associates degree in cc. Is it a good idea now to register and get my transcripts to the universities that I wanted, even though early admission for Spring 2010 starts at Aug. 1?

Last question, anybody who has experience on transferring colleges from East coast to West coast or vise versa, can you guys please explain to me how transferring credits work? Is it the same as transferring your credits within the same state or is it different, because I checked most university websites that I want, and most of the accredited courses are from within the state only.

A ‘W’ should not be a big deal at all unless you have several. Sounds like you don’t. If you’re asking if you should submit your transcript earlier than the admission process before your grade posts I would give you a definite NO. Now, if the class ends AFTER Aug. 1 then I suppose it would not hurt but I would not be surprised at all if they asked for another transcript after the summer was over.

I can’t speak on transferring out of state. I can tell you that it may get messy though, I transferred in state but from public to private and was a bit disappointed with the transferability of courses.

What do you mean “if you should submit your transcript earlier than the admission process before your grade posts I would give you a definite NO.” So you mean I should finish all of my courses up to Fall, then register? would that be too late and I would not get to the early decision admission.

If early decision admission begins Aug. 1 it would be fine to submit your transcript anytime after that date, as long as the transcript was processed after Aug. 1. My understanding was that you wanted to send in your transcripts now, before your grade (or drop) posted and before the admission process even started. I would say no to that.
