Question regarding the UCSD financial aid.

Like many of the newly admitted students, I received my financial aid package. However, I noticed that there was no mention of "Cal Grant" listed on the breakdown. I received my Cal Grant about a month ago and UCSD was not one of the three colleges on my letter. Around two weeks ago, I switched the award college to UCSD and it claimed I could be looking at $7,000 since I qualified for both Cal Grant A and B.

Here's my dilemma:

With "Gift Aid" I have to pay $8,650. So did that gift aid include the cal grant or not? There was no mention of Cal Grant on the breakdown while my friend had an amount that said "Possible Cal Grant Award," so does this mean I could be looking at another $7000 off with my tuition being only $1650 a month? I really dont know whether they estimated the Cal grant already or not since there was no mention of it. All it said was "Pell Grant" "Academic Competitiveness Grant" "UCSD Grant" and "Other Outside Aid (this has a $0 on it)".

So does this mean I could be looking at even more money?

The Financial Aid Office would be your best bet for answering your question. They could probably access your student file and sort it out better for you than any of us on here can. http://www.ucsd.edu/portal/site/ucsd/menuitem.d9adff1cb07b3413c739c210364b01ca/?vgnextoid=b4a8dc247ef63110VgnVCM10000045b410acRCRD

“$1650 a month” I think the costs are for a year, not a month, because if you pay 8k a month that’s 80k a year…

sorry, that was a typo, i meant year*

yeah! im as puzzled as you are on that. I have to pay $8750, according to the UCSD net cost per year. But it doesn’t say my CAl Grant A, it only says POssible Cal Grant B, Pell Grant,UCSD grant, and Academic Competitiveness Grant.

Is that net cost what I hav eto pay per year?

umm.. my estimate doesnt have any type of “Possible Cal Grant” on it. So does that mean, they’ll add the Cal Grant too?

jennk15, the net cost they give you is estimated, so more or less yes, per year. you also have option of using the loans they offer or doing work study. you should probably notify the finacial aid office once you have sent in your sir of your Cal Grant.

question: is there any financial aid available for idiots who didn’t fill out fafsa?
thanks :)
