Question regarding UT admissions:

New member, first post. Firstly i'd like to say thank you as a grateful consumer of so much knowledge that has been shared on these forums.

I am a student at Houston Community College with aspirations of transferring to UT Austin, specifically to the Cockrell School of Engineering to study Petroleum Engineering. I am currently holding a 4.0 GPA with 45 hours completed and am looking to complete my 60 hours and earn my Associates in Science before applying to UT (it coincidentally represents the full Texas Community College core for transfer students to UT engineering).

My planned schedule will have me completing all HCC classes this coming fall semester and my question is: If I apply for spring 2013 admission and am accepted, do I have to accept and enroll for spring? Or can I accept and start during the summer or fall? Is this a request that schools often/sometimes accommodate or is it more typical to need to reapply immediately prior to the semester one intends to actually begin attending?

Thank you in advance for any feedback.
