I previously applied to Dartmouth and was rejected. When I apply as a transfer what would happen if I lied and said that I have not previously applied
Lie to the school you’re applying to? You don’t wanna do it
I don’t think Dartmouth considers the the fact that you previously applied a disadvantage, however even if they do, iIf the school keeps your files from the first time you applied it is extremely likely that they will realize you lied!
What benefit does lying about this particular fact bring? In this case the only thing it could do is shed light on the fact that you are dishonest - a trait colleges don’t tend to appreciate. If you are thinking of doing this - don’t! If you have already done so, you shouldn’t have, it was a silly choice to make.
Here’s the situation I applied as a white student and I found out recently that I have native american heritage. That’s something Dartmouth recruits. I was planning on applying as a transfer and putting this heritage down but I dont want them to see that I applied last year as white and this year as native american. That looks like I’m lying.
You have to tell them that you did apply previously. Period.
If you have just found out that you have Native American ancestry, and your are excited about that, and you can enroll in your tribe, well then that would make a great essay topic, wouldn’t it?
