i've been reading around lately and i've been seeing a bunch of threads where people have 2300+ on their SATs and amazing extracurriculars. this led me to wonder something. are the majority of college confidential people geniuses or am i just below average when it comes to the level of academics nationally?

They’re geniuses. I suspect half of these people don’t actually have those stats but are trying to scare others out of applying to their top choice colleges so they’ll get in instead. If you look at a school like Brown, the middle range for SAT scores is 670-770 on each section. You can have below a 2000 and be on the low end of the middle range.

Don’t let them scare you.

At my school, top students didn’t get into schools where students one notch below did… For reasons unknown to most of us! Just make your list based on where YOU want to go (have a good range too).

A lot of people on CC lie about their stats - some even lie about what school they attend!

A high score doesn’t mean that you’re a genius - it doesn’t even mean that you’re intelligent. It may just mean that you are a good standardized test taker who has practiced a lot.

ok thank you.

CC attracts people trying to get into schools with admission rates of 20% or lower. When you think about it, there’s not a lot of reason for a site to exist so that people can exchange ideas on how to get into schools that have 80% or higher acceptance rates.
