Is transferring to another school common after only taking one semester at your current college? I'm seeking, specifically, to transfer to Cornell from the University of Rochester after my first semester (spring semester).

The problem is that the deadline is about a month and a half before my semester ends. Will Cornell wait for my transcript? Or is a recommendation from my professors informally telling them my grades an appropriate substitute?

I'd like to know if anyone has achieved this.

I don't know the answer to your question, but why are you looking to get out of UofR after only one semester? Spring semester? That just started.

Because at the CALS school, its 19k for ny residents vs. 34k at rochester. Plus my mom gets 50% off because she's a staff at cornell. Also I don't have to worry about food and dorm money since I'll be living at home. You can imagine the money that is saved this way.

Also there is the biological engineering at cornell which i'd prefer over rochester's biomedical engineering (biological is broad, so more options for graduate school)

if your mom is staff at Cornell than she can contact her HR person and get a much more definitive answer than you're going to get from random strangers on the internet.
