Maybe there's something I'm missing on the website, but this is what I don't understand/know what is better so far.

Part I vs. Part II application...is Part I for EA or something, or priority notification? Is there an additional fee? It says you get a $15 dollar discount, but I don't know off of what application.

Also, when specifying a major, is it better to say your intended major or leave it undecided? I have about 4 majors I'm interested in studying right now, but I don't know for sure. Will I have a better chance of being accepted if I just pick one of those?

You can put undecided for part I for now. My daughter did the same thing. Part I gives you a discount of $15 for part II. To get merit aid/scholarship you need to apply by Dec 1.

Eliza, Part 1 is basically to open your file. The info you put in Part 1 can be updated in Part 2, for example if you redo the SATs in October and get a better score as well as changing majors etc. USC will also send your bar codes by mail, as well as other info packets.
If you are still undecided when you do Part 2, it won't have an effect on your admission. However, keep in mind that if you apply to one of the specialized schools...Cinema, Arch etc, you may need to send in supplementary material, and these schools will have separate admission standards/procedures. Engineering, Business (Marshall) may also have specific requirements regarding courses you took. Changing majors or staying undecided in College of Letters and Sciences will be fine.
