If I want to go to med school, does the prestige of my undergrad school matter? I live in Canada and I think it would be stupid to go to a US school for undergrad -- it's SO expensive and if you go to a school like UToronto or McGill, I heard they usually readily accept you in the states.

But does the prestige of undergrad matter to get INTO med school?
What about after med school? Will possible employers/residency hospitals care where I went for undergrad if it's not the same as where I went for med school?
And does the prestige of the med school matter after you're done studying?

UToronto and McGill are very well regarded in the states. If going to one of those saves you lots of $$$$, then that’s what you should do. Your admission to med school does not depend on your undergrad school. They’ll look at you, your grades, and your scores and take it from there.

Alright, thanks very much! This is what I thought but I wanted to confirm.
People at my school are obsessed with the Ivy League even though only about 1-2 of our grads get accepted every year.
We were discussing university options in chem class and when I said it was dumb to go to US for undergrad (unless you’re doing MBA or something where the name really matters), the whole class thought I was crazy…
