Does a nomination + LoA = acceptance?

What does it take to FAIL the DODMERB physical?

What does it take to FAIL the DODMERB physical?

If you have an LOA and a nomination, you will receive an Appointment provided that you are medically cleared by DoDMERB and you pass the CFA, and if you haven't had your BGO interview, just don't screw that up. There's a whole lot of things that can medically disqualify you...if you're in good health though you shouldn't have a problem. Is there a specific medical issue you're concerned about?

Good Luck!

Would you DQed if:

-you used marijuana
-you used alcohol

I'm not sure.. for AFA you have to fill out a drug form that asked if you have/ have not done drugs before. Not sure how it will affect a candidates admissions status.

You have to answer questions about use of these substances. If your answer is yes to any of them, you will be asked more detail by the examining physician and DoDMERB will also investigate further. It depends on the extent and frequency of use/abuse. They do not want to start out paying for your rehabilitation and/or drug/alcohol habit!

Illegal substance use policy is one of "ZERO Tolerance" once you sign up!

i don't believe that alcohol use disqualifies you for the dodmerb. it said to answer truthfully, and i was kinda a party girl during soph and junior year, and i still ended up with an appointment. I can't speak for marijuana, though

lizgirl06 - I applaud you for your honesty. I'm glad to know that honesty still prevails and you will be attending a service academy!

hey...i'm honest....Lord knows if I'll get to an Academy.

someone on this forum said that during their NASS session, his/her squad leader had lied about smoking marijuana and had obviously gained admission and passed the initial drug test.

as for alcohol...stay away from Bacardi 151. While Bacardi 151 plus zippo lighters equal a pyromaniac's heaven, I'm not sure it's very good for you the morning after.

your choice...knock yourself out!

thanks hornetguy--i decided i shouldn't start off this whole experience (i count the admissions process as part of the NA experience) by violating the most important part of the honor code. But my parents threw a fit when they reviewed my dodmerb history b/c they had no idea about that part of my life. I got in a little hot water, even though that was in the past...

I believe all the academies "drug test" the kids the first or second day at summer training. That includes alcohol; so don't party too much...better yet not at all because if you get a dui or something you could lose your appointment.

Yup, in a show my high school did, we used B151 to make a flaming dish thing... also our TD when ever he needed a break from actors would "ensure its consistancy."

For some reason i remember reading that use of alcohol or maryj does not immediately disqualify you BEFORE admissions, but after you sign the no-drug-form you will get the boot.

Indeed honesty is the key here. Hopefully if you are honest it will not cause any problems. It did with me (not alc or maryj related) and here i am, reapply and waiting.

i'm strictly a water and milk kinda girl now. it's not worth the risk

i have a reputation for being the designated driver...

and i'm almost positive that all the academies drug test their kiddies

god...how much would it suck to be offered an appointment to USNA, then go out partying to celebrate, and end up with a DUI...i can't stomach the feeling

That's why you simply decline to drive if you party lol.

oh, you don't get DQ'ed for MJ or alc use...as long as it's not beyond abusive levels.

whatever, i dont think i'll have a problem...the only thing i inhale beyond air is second hand smoke, and the only time i've gotten voraciously drunk is because of my mom...(she made a sauce with too much rum in it, so the alcohol did not dissipate completely in the heat...and you can guess the results...)

oh i def decline a drivin position if i feel i "deserve" to party.
