is it possible to get accepted into your preferred school but rejected from your safety school ?

Yes, though it is unlikely. The only thing sort of similar that I know of happening is a friend got rejected at their safety but got into a high match. Sometimes safeties will reject top applicants because they assume they will get into somewhere better.

Or perhaps because they lacked demonstrated interest… the schools best known for rejecting some top applicants that aren’t reaches for anyone take in account demonstrated interest as far as rejecting top applicants is concerned.

@Catria that makes no sense though.

Some schools really value demonstrated interest. Not only does it tell them that you care about the school (which is rarely the case with people’s safeties), but it also means that they will maintain high matriculation rates…

really artsygirl13

@artsygirl, wttf ? english pls…

What part of my post do you not understand (I cannot clarify without knowing what is confusing)?

matriculation ? … is that even a word…

A “matriculation rate” is the ratio between the number of people who actually go to a school and the number of people admitted at that school.

@Catria alright thanks, btw do you go to an ivy league ?

Yes-strange things happen but if you don’t get in to your safety, you may not have chosen a real safety, you know? Some schools are inclined to deny kids they don’t believe will attend. You see cases on CC often enough though certainly its not the norm.
