Question

Hi, I am, as you can probably tell, currently an undergrad student in the UK. I was thinking of doing Masters after I graduate and my hearth is set on Conflict Resolution. My grades are absolutely fine, even got award for best essay but, apart from a couple of months volunteering, I haven't done any internships. Is not that I didn`t want to, just most of them are unpaid, and I cannot afford not working, even for a month or two. I am working as a waitress both during term and holidays. I only managed to get time off for my year abroad and for a couple of research trips for my dissertation. Do you think I still have any chance of getting in?

For the M.A. in Conflict Resolution program? Internships and professional experience are certainly a plus, but they’re not a necessary condition for admission. If you have other ways of demonstrating your interest and commitment to the field, your odds shouldn’t be impacted much.

Also, don’t be shy/bashful about communicating the fact that you weren’t able to pursue internships for financial reasons. That is absolutely something they would take into account when evaluating your application.
